Lights, Camera, Action! at July auction, as BBC Bargain Hunt visit T&D

There was great excitement at Trevanion & Dean Auctioneers Saturday 21st July auction as they welcomed the crew from popular BBC daytime programme Bargain Hunt to film at their latest monthly Fine Art and Antiques auction.  The Red and Blue teams were ably assisted by antiques experts Charles Hanson and David Harper and had shopped for their antiques purchases at Oswestry Antiques Fair in June.  Their selected pieces were then entered into the 21st July auction at Trevanion & Dean and the teams waited with great excitement to see whether their purchases made profits or losses.

‘It was a fantastic day’ said auctioneer Christina Trevanion ‘It’s always great fun to welcome the BBC crew to the saleroom, this is the fourth time they have visited us here in Whitchurch and it always creates a wonderful buzz in the saleroom’.  The programme also saw the debut of Trevanion & Dean’s valuer Ashley Jones to our screens.  Ashley conducted the popular ‘Auctioneers chat’ part of the show with presenter Natasha Raskin-Sharp ‘I really enjoyed it!’ said Ashley of his screen debut ‘I thought it might be a little intimidating but it wasn’t at all’.

‘He was a natural!’ added Christina.  ‘It’s so important to encourage fresh young talent into the business, Ashley is so enthusiastic about his work and it shows, I hope the audience enjoy watching him on our screens’.  And did the teams make profits? ‘I have no idea whether they left in the red or the black, but they all had a great time which is the main thing! We’ll have to wait and watch when the programmes air in the autumn to see the results’.

The 870 lot auction saw some fantastic results across the board with a Crimea Light Brigade medal group sell for £2,500, an 18th Century oil on canvas of ‘The Consultation’ sell for £1,700 and a Lalique glass swan sell for £1,100.
